So, I was lucky to notice it and at The same time I remembered the recommendation by Don. Makes me crazy mad when I think of how completely un-forward-thinking our government are being, sigh.
The apocalyptic world 3,25 is quite well described if not totally believable. Oh he was in prison for molesting kids. This book is good, really! She wondered if the girl was really there out of choice — because she got treated to a little alcohol, a little dope every now and then.
Afterlight Unabridged The writing style 3,75 is good but maybe too detached and not really catching. The breakdown of society is well told and fully believable and the main characters of Jenn Post apocalyptic thriller — set after the collapse of the oil industry — Afterlife is the follow on from an earlier work called Last Light which I have not read. There are only one or two beacon communities that have managed to fashion a new way of living. Last Light 2 books. All in all I enjoyed this, far more than I thought I would when I started it.
They would be absolutely ruthless in their desire to keep control and ultimately law and order would be ma Very good. Still I enjoyed the whole story an I am now starting on October Skies, the book that Alex Scarrow mentions in the authors notes.
Another nit-pick for me is the use of capitols in dialogue. I returned later to the worthy book, and enjoyed it too. Now, there are of course pros and cons to living out here. Many of the ideas will be familiar through The Day of the Triffid and Survivors. Jul 17, Richard rated it really liked it. Alex Scarrow is planning to span the TimeRiders series over 9 books in acterlight. I hate both of them like I hate everything most hateful in this whole world! Having said that I found this a very thought provoking works. Based on a series of decaying offshore oil-rigs — for safety — a few hundred people have rebuilt a semblance of normality in this otherwise dead world. Really glad you enjoyed both this book and the prequel. This one is set 10 years after the events of Last Light as some vague sense wfterlight normality has started to return as a group have found a way to survive and live with each other.
There are still threats out there and you can see the pieces slowly coming together before the epic showdown. Jenny Sutherland becomes a man-hating aafterlight aboard the oil rig after possibly being raped by roving scavengers on land — such a tremendously unlikable character that I was willing her death from scene 1.
The secondary ones are less convincing and almost stereotypic. Jenny Sutherland runs one of these groups. Loving this from the start. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
