JoJosho Though I have only gotten through the first few drawings, this is probably the best way to learn drawing if you cannot take part in atelier training. Charles Bargue and Jean-Leon Gerome: I have just started using this course after drawing and painting most of my life, and feel that it will be very beneficial. The review below is quite critical of some aspects of the book, partly as a result of bxrgue frustrationI was experiencing at the time.
More of a really worthwhile addition. In order to redress the balance somewhat, I would like to point out, as I have in various other pages on this site, that this book has been an absolute godsend in my ongoing efforts to train myself to draw. I have bought so many learn to draw books but this one actually changes the way you see. Just so the Prof. Good in places, but not much detail. The Speed book was written at the turn of the century, so the language can seem a little difficult to modern ears.
